SAN DIEGO, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- All-Star first baseman Wil Myers won't test arbitration or free agency for the next several seasons, according to his new contract.

Myers, 26, agreed to a six-year deal with the San Diego Padres Friday, according to ESPN's Jim Bowden. The deal is pending a physical and is worth more than $80 million, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

The 2013 Rookie of the Year hit a career-high 28 home runs and had 94 RBI last season while raking .259. Myers has hit .257 in four seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays and Padres. He was eligible for arbitration through 2019 before the signing.

Dennis Linn of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported in November that Padres general manager A.J. Preller planned to sit down with Wil Myers' agent to "explore an extension." Rosenthal previously reported that the Padres would have to be "blown away" to consider trading the young talent.
