The Dallas Cowboys are expected to hire Kris Richard as their defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator, multiple outlets reported on Tuesday.

Richard served as the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks after Dan Quinn departed to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons in 2015. The Seahawks ranked in the top three in points allowed in 2015 and 2016 before dropping to 13th this season, tied with the Cowboys.

The 38-year-old Richard, who parted ways with Seattle after the season, will replace Matt Eberflus as defensive passing game coordinator. Eberflus is expected to join Josh McDaniels as the defensive coordinator in Indianapolis once the New England Patriots' offensive coordinator is named Colts head coach following Super Bowl LII, according to multiple reports.

Richard reportedly met with the Cowboys on Sunday.

The Cowboys did not retain secondary coach Joe Baker, who had an expiring contract.
