Conor McGregor says Floyd Mayweather 'can't read' in latest press conference blowout

By Alex Butler

July 12 (UPI) -- Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor met Wednesday in Toronto for their second stop of a four-city world tour of press conferences.

This time, the trash talk was turned up even higher than it was Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. UFC's biggest mouth and boxing's box office legend took aim at the Budweiser Stage.

The crowd seemed to heavily favor the Irishman. "The Notorious" battles Floyd "Money" Mayweather on August 26 in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena. You can buy the fight for about $90 on Showtime pay-per-view. McGregor entered the stage wearing a blue colored fitted suit.

Mayweather took the stage wearing a TMT hat and shirt, with the Canadian flag printed behind his trademarked logos. The duo jawed for a bit before they each got a chance to rile up the crowd.

Showtime host Brian Custer took the podium first. He handed off the microphone to executive vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports Stephen Espinoza. Espinoza then left the reigns to UFC president Dana White.

"When we were putting this deal together, I told these guys you don't do a world tour without stopping in Canada, baby," White said. "And as usual, you never fail to deliver you guys."

White then introduced his 155-pound champion. McGregor began his spiel by asking if the microphone worked, referencing when his microphone was turned off during the first stop on the press tour.

"The Notorious" then got the fans to shout expletives at the 49-0 boxing superstar.

"[Expletive] the Mayweathers," said the crowd, with rap star Drake also watching on.

McGregor also cussed at Espinoza. He referenced Mayweather's Las Vegas strip club saying that the star had "strippers on his payroll." McGregor also said "Money" was dressed like a breakdancer and couldn't read. He even called out Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna, somewhat randomly.

"You are 40 years of age," McGregor said. "Dress your [expletive] age. What are you doing with a school bag on stage? You cant even read."

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe introduced Mayweather.

"The record speaks for itself," Ellerbe said. "He's the best to ever do it. Toronto! None other than, former 12-time World Champion in five different weight classes. The highest-paid athlete ever. TBE [The Best Ever]. The man who is going to kick his [expletive]."

Mayweather did several paces and sipped his coffee slowly before responding.

"One thing we do know. The [expletive] fans can't fight for you," Mayweather said.

"We not talking bout being at the top 1, 2, 3, 4 years...[expletive] 21 years."

"And they said I'm the guy that can't read. I do numbers. I make money," said Mayweather, who is worth about $340 million, according to Forbes.

"Yeah he was right," Mayweather said. "The bag got books and we gonna show you what the books look like. If you believe in yourself like you say you believe in yourself, bet your own fight check, you [expletive]."

"No [expletive] problem," McGregor said. "Send the contract. It's done."

Mayweather also said he "liked" McGregor, while McGregor retorted: "you love me." The un-retired boxing legend also had some words for White.

"Dana, I can never disrespect you," Mayweather said. "I've known you for 21 years. You've done a hell of a job with this company. And I want to continue to watch you grow. I wanna watch you continue to build the UFC because it's all about combat sports...No matter what I said about you in the past, as a man I look in your face and apologize and tell you I'm sorry, but you've done a hell of a job with this company."

McGregor made fun of Mayweather for running around the ring in his fights. But Mayweather responded by saying he was "running into the bank."

Toward the end of the performance, Mayweather put on an Irish flag from the crowd and pretended to defecate. McGregor takes a book bag from Mayweather and makes fun of him because he says the bag only contains "about 5 grand."

Mayweather and McGregor's tour resumes Thursday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It concludes Friday at the SSE Arena at Wembley in London.
