Twice as nice: K.J. and Dedric Lawson to enroll at Kansas

Coveted Memphis transfers K.J. and Dedric Lawson, brothers who attended their hometown university, plan to enroll at Kansas.

Dedric, a sophomore forward, averaged 19.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists last season. Dedric Lawson was a McDonald's All-American coming out of high school. He committed to Memphis where his father, Keelon Lawson, is on the coaching staff.

Keelon Lawson announced the decision via Twitter and confirmed the news to multiple outlets Monday.

Redshirt freshman K.J. Lawson was a four-star recruit. He averaged 12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds. He took a redshirt season to recover from an Achilles injury.

Dedric Lawson has two years remaining but must sit out the 2016-17 season, while K.J. should have three, after also missing the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules.

They committed to Memphis when Josh Pastner was head coach, but Pastner left for Georgia Tech. When Tubby Smith replaced Pastner, he also demoted Keelon Lawson to the support staff role of player development coordinator.

Keelon Lawson plans to leave the program and two younger Lawson brothers -- in the classes of 2019 and 2021 -- are not considering Memphis. Chandler Lawson is a top-25 recruit according to multiple services.

ESPN and CBS list Florida and Georgia Tech among the primary schools Chandler Lawson is considering.
