QB sneak: Tom Brady backtracks on Donald Trump vote disclosure

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady created a stir last week when he, along with head coach Bill Belichick, apparently gave Donald Trump their support on the eve of the election, something the candidate made public at a rally in New Hampshire.

Last week, when he was asked if he voted for Trump, Brady jokingly said his wife told him not to talk about it anymore.

So while Brady had promised a week earlier that he would reveal the way he voted in his weekly interview on WEEI radio in Boston on the morning after Sunday's night's game against Seattle, he declined to follow through.

"I know, I know, but I'm not talking politics anymore," Brady said when reminded of his promise Monday morning on the Kirk and Callahan show. "I've got other things to worry about. Just speaking with my family, it's a bad idea. I know I told you I would, and then after I told you I would I changed my mind."

Brady also chose to expand on the issue as to whether he gave the now President-elect permission to go public with supposed support.

"I just don't want to get into it, I really don't," Brady said. "There's nothing positive that comes of it. There's been so much negativity over the last week. I'm a positive person and I just want to keep things positive."

But is the quarterback happy that his longtime friend Trump is headed to the White House?

"I don't want to express any emotions and any feelings," Brady told WEEI. "You know what I am? I'm hopeful and optimistic our country (will) move forward. I'm happy the election is over. I'm sure a lot of other people are. I'm going to focus on football."
