Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson headline PGA Player of Year nominees

Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson headline a list of six nominees for the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the PGA Player of the Year.

Jason Day, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth and Henrik Stenson are also nominees for the honor, which is determined by a member vote. The voting will close on Oct. 7 with the winners expected to be announced the following week.

The PGA also announced Argentina's Emiliano Grillo and Americans Smylie Kaufman and Si Woo Kim as nominees for the Rookie of the Year award.

McIlroy and Johnson finished Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in the Fed Ex Cup, with the former claiming two victories this year (Deutsche Bank Championship and Tour Championship) while the latter won three tournaments (U.S. Open, World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and BMW Championship).

Day also won three events, Scott and Spieth claimed two victories and Stenson secured a silver medal in the Rio Olympics.
