Four-star defensive tackle Donovan Jeter committed to Notre Dame's 2017 class on Monday.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Jeter from Beaver Falls, Pa., chose the Fighting Irish over many other schools, including Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Tennessee and Miami.

Jeter initially planned to announce his commitment on Oct. 31 but moved the date up following his official visit to Notre Dame last weekend.

"It just felt right when I stepped on their campus," Jeter told Scout.com. "It felt like I was home."

Jeter joins five other Western Pennsylvania athletes who have already committed to Notre Dame in the 2017 class.

"First I want to thank God for blessing me and putting me in position to be able to choose from such great schools," Jeter wrote Monday morning on his Twitter account. "I want to thank every coach who offered me a scholarship and believed in me. I also want to thank everyone who helped me along the way with making this decision. This was not an easy decision but I'm doing what's best for me.

"With that being said, after many months of going through this process, I'll be furthering my education and football career at THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME #GoIrish."
