Curry averaged 6.8 points per game and shot 45.5 percent from 3-point range.

The verbal agreement can be finalized on Thursday, when the NBA moratorium on contract agreements is lifted.

Deron Williams started for the Mavericks in his first season in Dallas but depth is needed due to durability questions. Last season, J.J. Barea and Devin Harris served as the backup point guards for the Mavericks.
