TORONTO -- Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion and manager John Gibbons were ejected in the first inning on Friday afternoon of their game against the Cleveland Indians.

Encarnacion vehemently protested a called third strike to end the bottom of the first to home plate umpire Vic Carapazza as Indians right-hander Josh Tomlin struck out the side.

Gibbons charged from the dugout and was also ejected.

It was the first ejection of the season for Encarnacion and sixth for Gibbons.
