The Philadelphia Phillies didn't take long to get top overall pick Mickey Moniak in the fold.
Philadelphia agreed to terms with the 18-year-old outfielder on a deal Monday, just 11 days after he was the first name off the board during the MLB draft.
Financial terms were not disclosed by the team, but MLBPipeline.com reported that the signing bonus was worth $6.1 million.
Moniak, who became the Phillies first top overall pick since Pat Burrell in 1998, will forgo his commitment to UCLA and sign with the Phillies, the team announced after its 3-1 setback to Arizona on Monday afternoon.
Moniak will have an official press conference with the team on Tuesday.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Moniak batted .476 with seven homers, 46 RBIs and a .921 slugging percentage in his senior season with La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, Calif.
