Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Dez Bryant plan to work out together before the start of training camp in late July.

They only played in three games together last season as both players dealt with injuries that helped sink the Cowboys to a 4-12 record.

Bryant was held out of team drills and most individual drills throughout the offseason program as he works his way back from foot surgery in January.

Bryant and the Cowboys have been cautious after he missed seven games in 2015 with a fractured foot. He said there will be plenty of time to get back on track with Romo as they work out together over the next six weeks.

"I just think something me and Tony established a long time ago," Bryant told the Dallas Morning News. "It's something that can't fade because that's something we truly committed ourselves to, being on the same page, it's all about just tuning it and going to work.

"I'm excited. Can't wait. But I have to be patient. As soon as training camp comes, you're going to see the big smile running on the field, ready to go. Get to do what I love. Can't wait."

By all accounts, Romo has shown no signs of being limited following a procedure on his left collarbone earlier this offseason to strengthen a fracture that cost him 12 games in 2015. The Cowboys were 3-1 with Romo in the lineup and 1-11 without him.

Romo looked sharp throughout organized team activities and minicamp, participating in all individual and team drills.

"I think for him more than anything is just once he gets out there and does it over and over again for a couple of weeks, he's going to be fine," Romo said of Bryant. "Training camp is a lot of practices and a lot of time. As long as you're there for training camp, you're going to be just fine when you're at the talent level of a Dez Bryant."
