Copa America 2016: Chile advances with 4-2 win

Defending champion Chile moved into the Copa America quarterfinals with a 4-2 victory over Panama on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

Eduardo Vargas and Alexis Sanchez each had two goals for Chile (2-0-1), which eliminated Panama (1-0-2).

Chile's quarterfinal opponent is expected to be Mexico on Saturday in Santa Clara, Calif.

Panama took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute on a goal by Miguel Camargo. Vargas' first goal at the 15-minute mark came on a rebound and knotted the score.

Chile went ahead when Vargas scored his second goal on a header just before halftime.

The first of Sanchez's two goals increased the lead to 3-1 in the 50th minute. Panama closed to 3-2 with a goal from Abdiel Arroyo in the 75th minute before Sanchez ended the scoring in the 90th minute.
