Jesus Manuel Corona's 80th-minute goal gave Mexico a 1-1 tie with Venezuela and first place in Group C at Copa America on Monday night at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Mexico (3-0-0) advances to a quarterfinal match Saturday at Santa Clara, Calif., against the Group D runner-up. Venezuela (2-1-0) will meet the Group D winner -- which would be Argentina, if it beats or ties Bolivia on Tuesday -- in a Saturday quarterfinal at Foxborough, Mass.

Venezuela jumped on top of Mexico with a 10th-minute goal from Jose Manuel Velazquez.

With time running down and Mexico needing only a draw to clinch first place in the group, Corona took the ball about 35 yards from the goal, dribbled past and between five defenders, then slotted home a 12-yard shot into the bottom left corner.

Uruguay 3, Jamaica 0

Abel Hernandez scored in the 21st minute, and Uruguay added two second-half goals to top Jamaica at Santa Clara, Calif.

After an own goal in the 66th minute, Mathias Corujo capped the scoring with two minutes left in regulation.

Uruguay (1-2-0) and Jamaica (0-3-0) were already eliminated from contention in the event before the game.
