The Cleveland Indians on Monday placed relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 22.
Left-hander Ryan Merritt was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Chamberlain's spot on the roster.

Also recalled from Columbus was right-hander Cody Anderson, who will make a spot start in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. He is 0-3 with a 7.99 ERA in six starts this season.
Chamberlain has made 14 relief appearances this season and has a 1.93 ERA.
This is the 24-year-old Merritt's first trip to the majors. He was 3-4 with a 2.94 ERA in eight starts in Columbus.
