Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis made a return trip to Las Vegas as he continues to explore options and flirt with other cities if he decides to move his team.

Davis toured UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium on Friday to evaluate whether the school could serve as a temporary home for the Raiders if a deal is ultimately reached to build a new domed stadium a few blocks off the Las Vegas Strip. Sam Boyd Stadium currently seats 35,500 people.

The Las Vegas Sands Corp. has proposed a $1 billion domed stadium project near UNLV, which is between the airport and The Strip. Davis previously met with Sands chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson in January.

The Raiders will pay $3.5 million in rent to play at O.co Coliseum in 2016, an increase of more than triple what the team paid last year.

The Raiders and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Joint Powers Authority have agreed to a one-year extension that includes an additional two years of team options after the 2016 season.

The St. Louis Rams were approved by the NFL in January to move to Los Angeles, and the San Diego Chargers have an option to join the Rams at their yet-to-be-built stadium in Inglewood, Calif. The new stadium is expected to be completed by the 2019 season.

The Raiders might move after next season but must wait until after the Chargers make a decision on whether they want to join the Rams.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell talked about the possibility of franchise moving to Las Vegas during last month's owners meetings in Boca Raton, Fla.

"Mark Davis is appropriately looking at all his alternatives," Goodell said on March 23. "They need to evaluate those alternatives. I think their ultimate decision is a long ways off. There are several cities that have a tremendous interest in the Raiders. I'm hopeful also that Oakland will be one of those and that we can avoid any relocation to start with. Those are ultimately decisions about where they go and the impact that the potential gambling that we'd have to deal with. We'd have to understand it, we'd have to understand what the impact is on us and ultimately each owner would have a vote on that."
