The Los Angeles Rams reached agreement Wednesday on a two-year contract with defensive end Quinton Coples.

According to a NFL Media report, the deal is worth between $6.5 million and $9.75 million.

Coples was the No. 16 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, who cut him in November after nearly four seasons with the team. He was picked up by the Miami Dolphins and spent the remainder of the 2015 season there.

A pass rushing specialist, Coples struggled to fit into the Jets' 3-4 defensive scheme and his statistics reflected it. Last season, he had no sacks in 15 games with the Jets and Dolphins. In his four NFL seasons, Coples has totaled 16 1/2 sacks.

But the Rams play a 4-3 defense that appears to fit Coples' skill set better as a defensive end. He'll fill a spot vacated when Chris Long was released during the offseason and acquired by the New England Patriots.
