Hayward, 26, started 11 games for the Green Bay Packers last season and recorded a career-best 65 tackles.

He has nine career interceptions but six of them occurred in his rookie season of 2012. He played just three games in 2013 due to a hamstring injury.

The Chargers are revamping their secondary with the signings of Hayward and safety Dwight Lowery. Mainstay safety Eric Weddle is departing as a free agent after nine seasons in San Diego.
