With Heath Miller's retirement, the Pittsburgh Steelers were in need of a tight end, and apparently they will have one soon as free agent tight end Ladarius Green is expected to sign with the Steelers, ESPN.com reported Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Green played his first four pro seasons with the San Diego Chargers and had 37 receptions for 429 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Before the Steelers played the Chargers last season, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had this to say about Green, according to CBSSports.com: "Ladarius Green is a talented and vertical threat-like tight end. He is an oversized wide receiver. He is adept at getting up the field. He has logged a lot of quality reps here in the first four weeks of the season and he has built a nice rapport with (quarterback Philip) Rivers. I would imagine that would continue even as (Antonio) Gates comes back, and I would imagine their two tight end set is going to be one that we have to contend with."
