New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes arrives on horseback

By The Sports Xchange

As spring training games begin in the Grapefruit League on Tuesday, Yoenis Cespedes shifted into cowboy mode.

Cespedes, who has arrived in a variety of customized cars to the Mets' spring training facility, was mounted on a white horse in full western wear when he hit the parking lot Tuesday.

Cespedes' steed, named Vanity, lives year-round at his ranch in Boca Raton, Fla. He arrived on horseback a few lengths ahead of Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who was also atop one of Cespedes' horses.

After strolling the lot for about 15 minutes, teammates Steven Matz and Kevin Plawecki took their turn playing cowboy.

Over the weekend, Cespedes attended the county fair and left with a $7,000 hog, the grand champion of a 4-H Fair. That addition will also reside at Cespedes' Boca Raton ranch.

As Cespedes made more news in the parking lot, the Mets sent another outfielder home for a few days. Curtis Granderson was diagnosed with pink-eye and will be away from the team to avoid an outbreak.
