Six wins will not likely be enough for Tom Coughlin to save his job with the New York Giants.

Quarterback Eli Manning said on a conference call Monday that he was concerned this could be the end for Coughlin.

"He's done a good job not bringing it up, and as a player I think you stay focused on the task ahead of you - focusing on the game plan and doing a good job. Obviously I have great respect for him," Manning said. "I wanted to do my job and do my job well and get into the playoffs and have a big season so he could continue being the head coach, because I have such respect for him and he's the only coach I've had in the NFL. In that sense, I feel disappointed that I wasn't able to play at a better level for him."

The Giants are 30th in the NFL in defense, and failed to finish off several games in which they held the lead in the fourth quarter. The Giants blew a fourth-quarter lead six times, including Week 1 at Dallas when Manning's decision to take a sack and throw the ball away -- stopping the clock -- in a goal-to-go situation fed the Cowboys' last-second TD drive.

Manning had another Pro Bowl season -- 4,134 yards and 33 touchdowns -- and the Giants are sixth in the NFL in total offense.

A 49-17 loss Sunday night at Minnesota brought Coughlin's future into the conversation after the game and again Monday. The Giants end the 2015 season with a game against the Philadelphia Eagles with both teams already eliminated from playoff contention.

The Giants have three consecutive seasons with a losing record for the first time since 1980.

Coughlin said he wasn't worried about his own future and will forge ahead with a goal of winning the next one.

"I do not coach worrying about that," he said.

"We have one week to go, there's some soul-searching that has to be done on everybody's part - players, coaches, me."
