Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is scheduled to make his preseason debut Friday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

Rose, the 2011 NBA MVP, has been sidelined since suffering a fractured orbital bone on Sept. 29.

Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said Rose's playing time will be limited and that he won't be in the starting lineup. Rose is unlikely to play more than 10 minutes on Friday.

Rose and Hoiberg said that if Rose's eye reacts well to the playing time Rose gets on Friday, he would have a good chance to play in Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"Every day my eye is improving," Rose told the Chicago Tribune. "We'll see how tonight goes. Everything I need to work on, this gives me a couple days to really work on it so I'm prepared for Tuesday."
