Ferrer withdraws from Wimbledon

Spaniard David Ferrer has withdrawn from Wimbledon because of an elbow injury.

Ferrer, who was seeded eighth, has been replaced in the draw by lucky loser Luca Vanni of Italy.

The No. 7-ranked Ferrer was scheduled to face British wild card James Ward in the first round. Ferrer has reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon twice, in 2012 and 2013.
