Detroit defeats Tampa Bay

Miguel Cabrera celebrated his new $300 million contract by going 1-for-3 as the designated hitter in Detroit's 6-3 win over Tampa Bay at Joke Marchant Stadium.

Miguel Cabrera celebrated his new $300 million contract by going 1-for-3 as the designated hitter in Detroit's 6-3 win over Tampa Bay at Joke Marchant Stadium.

Cabrera's batting average in the spring is .352.

Ian Kinsler and Victor Martinez each had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who pounded out 12 hits. Austin Jackson also had two hits and an RBI and Alex Avila hit his first homer of the spring for Detroit.

Joba Chamberlain, a projected reliever for the Tigers, worked the first inning in the starting role.

Matt Moore started for the Rays and allowed three runs on seven hits in three innings. He struck out four and walked none.

Brandon Guyer had two hits, including a two-run ninth-inning homer, for the Rays. Logan Forsythe also had two hits for Tampa Bay.
