LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Blake Griffin scored 29 points Wednesday and the Los Angeles Clippers relied on their starters to pull off a 111-105 win over Boston.
All but 12 of the Clippers' points came from the starting five.
Griffin made 9-of-14 shots and added six rebounds and eight assists in what was Los Angeles' second straight win. The Clippers kept pace in a first-place tie with Golden State in the Pacific Division.
Los Angeles led by 16 with 8:23 to go before the Celtics closed within four in the final minute. Boston's comeback finally ran out of steam when Jerryd Bayless missed a layup with nine seconds left that would have trimmed the Celtics' deficit to two.
Jamal Crawford scored 26 points for Los Angeles, Jared Dudley had 18, Darren Collision added 15 and DeAndre Jordan had 11.
Willie Green and Matt Barnes were the only bench players to score for the Clippers.
Boston has lost six in a row, the last three coming at the start of a five-game road trip. Jordan Crawford and Avery Bradley led the Celtics with 24 points each.
