NEW YORK, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- The NBA said Thursday Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin should not have been ejected from Wednesday's game against Golden State.
Griffin already had one technical foul against him in the game for an incident he did not initiate and he picked up another early in the fourth quarter when he tried to pull away from Golden State's Andrew Bogut after Bogut pulled Griffin's jersey.
A player is automatically ejected from a game when he picks up two technical fouls and without their star player the Clippers eventually lost by two points.
Griffin complained after the game that he had done nothing wrong in either confrontation, and the NBA agreed with him.
"After a league review of the Clippers-Warriors game, we have come to the conclusion that Blake Griffin should not have been ejected from the game," NBA President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn said.
"A common foul should have been called on Griffin for initially attempting to dislodge the Warriors' Andrew Bogut and a technical foul should have been assessed to Bogut for grabbing Griffin by the shirt and wrestling with him."
The first technical foul against Griffin was assessed after Golden State's Draymond Green elbowed him in the throat. Green was also ejected from the game and was fined $15,000 by the league Thursday.
