NHL: Buffalo 2, Ottawa 1 (SO)

BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Rookie Zemgus Girgensons scored in regulation and added the game-winner in the 10th round of a shootout Tuesday, lifting Buffalo over Ottawa 2-1.

Girgensons erased a 1-0 deficit with a second-period goal and the score remained knotted until the shootout.

The Sabres took the lead twice in the tiebreaker, but Ottawa's Kyle Turris scored in the sixth round and Milan Michalek tallied in the seventh to keep the contest alive.

Girgensons, however, beat Ottawa's Robin Lehner in the 10th with a backhander and Sabres goalie Ryan Miller then stopped Erik Condra to secure the victory.

Miller stopped 35 shots as Buffalo logged just its second win in 10 games.

Michalek scored in regulation and Lehner finished with 35 saves for the Senators.
