NFL: Carolina 10, San Francisco 9

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- DeAngelo Williams ran for the game's only touchdown Sunday but it was enough to help give Carolina a fifth straight victory, 10-9 over San Francisco.

Williams' 27-yard score late in the first half pulled the Panthers (6-3) to within 9-7, and Graham Gano booted a 53-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter for the winning margin in the defensive struggle.

Cam Newton completed just 16-for-32 passes for 169 yards and an interception for Carolina, which is battling New Orleans for the NFC South lead.

The Panthers converted just seven third-down attempts and committed two turnovers, but their defense recorded six sacks.

Colin Kaepernick managed to make good on 11-for-22 passes for just 91 yards with an interception for the 49ers (6-3), whose five-game winning streak was snapped.

Frank Gore supplied 103 yards of total offense with16 carries and two catches for San Francisco.
