MLB: Houston 6, Minnesota 5

HOUSTON, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Trevor Crowe's double in the bottom of the ninth drove in Jonathan Villar with the game-winning run Wednesday, helping the Houston Astros beat Minnesota 6-5.

The Astros seemed on their way to a victory in the top of the ninth, holding a 5-4 lead, but Minnesota's Ryan Doumit pounded a score-tying homer off Erik Bedard (4-10) to lead off the inning.

Houston responded in the next half-inning against Brian Duensing (6-2) when Villar opened with a single, went to second on Jose Altuve's sacrifice and scored the game-winner when Crowe (2-for-4, two RBI) laced a hit into the left-field corner.

Brandon Barnes drove in a pair of runs for the Astros, who avoided a three game sweep.

Alex Presley went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, his first round-tripper for the Twins, and rookie Josmil Pinto collected a pinch-hit single -- his sixth hit in nine at-bats to begin his major-league career.
