NFL: Detroit 35, Buffalo 13

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Kellen Moore and Shaun Hill both threw two touchdown passes Thursday in leading Detroit to a 35-13 exhibition romp over Buffalo.

Moore and Hill are battling for the backup spot behind starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and both had solid performances to close out the preseason.

Hill started the game and completed first-period touchdown throws of 8 yards to Pat Edwards and 6 yards to Kris Durham. Moore came on in the second quarter and was good on scoring passes of 8 and 4 yards to Theo Roddick to give the Lions a 35-3 halftime lead.

Detroit finished the exhibition campaign with a 2-2 record.

Matt Leinart, signed as a free-agent 48 hours before the game, started for the injury-plagued Bills and had two of his 10 passes intercepted.

Buffalo begins its regular season with a visit to New England on Sept. 8. The Bills have defeated the Patriots just once in their last 19 meetings. Detroit will be at home that day against Minnesota.
