NFL: Cincinnati 27, Indianapolis 10

CINCINNATI, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Andy Dalton led Cincinnati to a touchdown on its opening possession Thursday and the Bengals went on to defeat Indianapolis 27-10.

Cincinnati finished off a 3-1 exhibition season by scoring 27 consecutive points. That stretch was ignited by the Bengals' first possession, during which they marched 49 yards in seven plays.

That was the only possession Dalton played and the Cincinnati quarterback threw just one pass -- completing it for 18 yards to Mohammed Sanu.

Giovani Bernard scored on a 1-yard run at the end of that march, backup quarterback Josh Johnson threw a touchdown pass of 3 yards to Marvin Jones in the second period and Rex Burkhead scored on a 2-yard run in the third.

Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck sat out the game and the Colts could not produce a touchdown until Chandler Harnish threw a 7-yard scoring pass to Dominique Jones in the fourth quarter. The Colts wound up with a 2-2 exhibition record.

The Colts begin the regular season at home against Oakland on Sept. 8. Cincinnati will also play that day at Chicago.
