Manny Pacquiao wants to 'restore the public's confidence'

BEIJING, July 30 (UPI) -- Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao told a Beijing news conference he expects his fight against U.S. boxer Brandon Rios to "restore the public's confidence in me."

Pacquiao, 34, who lost to Timothy Bradley in June 2012 and Juan Manuel Marquez in December, said he is feeling "a little pressure" to win his Nov. 23 bout against Rios, GMA News reported Tuesday.

"I need to restore the public's confidence in me and my abilities," Pacquiao said. "An impressive win against Rios will raise my name again in boxing."

Rios told the news conference he has an "enormous amount of respect" for Pacquiao, but is aware the Filipino "makes a lot of mistakes" he plans to exploit in their bout.
