PHILADELPHIA, July 13 (UPI) -- Alexei Ramirez delivered an RBI double in the 11th inning Saturday, boosting the Chicago White Sox over Philadelphia 5-4 in Game 1 of a doubleheader.
After a 41-minute rain delay in the ninth inning with the score tied 3-3, the game resumed with a scoreless 10th.
Then in the 11th, Alejandro De Aza (two RBI) collected a one-out triple against J.C. Ramirez (0-1) and came home when Ramirez (4-for-6) followed by stroking a solid two-bagger into right-center field.
The decisive run, however, came next when Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins couldn't handle a routine Alex Rios grounder, allowing Ramirez to score for a 5-3 advantage.
The White Sox needed the unearned run in the bottom of the 11th when Humberto Quintero sent home Darin Ruf with a pinch-hit RBI single, but Addison Reed closed out his 24th save by inducing Ben Revere to ground into a game-ending double play.
Ramon Trancoso (1-2) earned the decision for the White Sox, who took the first of a three-game interleague series after Friday's scheduled opener was rained out.
Ruf went 3-for-4 with a solo homer while Delmon Young added an RBI for Philadelphia.
