MLB: Los Angeles Angels 13, Chicago Cubs 2

CHICAGO, July 10 (UPI) -- Josh Hamilton homered during both of the big Los Angeles innings Wednesday, helping power the Angels to a 13-2 thrashing of the Chicago Cubs.

Los Angeles scored five times in the first and six times in the fifth to bounce back from a 7-2 loss to the Cubs on Tuesday and win for the 11th time in 14 games.

Hamilton has slowly been emerging from what had been a season-long slump and he was still batting just .227 coming into Wednesday's game. He finished the contest with five RBI, running his total to 39 for the year

He hit a three-run homer in the first inning after Mike Trout had produced an RBI double and before Mark Trumbo hit a solo shot.

Hamilton, and Albert Pujols both hit a solo home run in the fifth and Brendan Harris delivered a two-run blast. Hamilton drove in his fifth run of the game on a ground out in the ninth.

C.J. Wilson (9-6) coasted to the win by giving up a run on four hits over seven innings. Jeff Samardzija (5-9) surrendered nine runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 to take the loss.
