MINNEAPOLIS, July 4 (UPI) -- Vernon Wells had two hits, three RBI and one run scored Thursday to help the New York Yankees beat Minnesota 9-5 and complete a four-game series sweep.

Ichiro Suzuki had a triple, a double and a single, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Yankees, who got two hits and one RBI each from Luis Cruz and Zoilo Almonte.

New York starter David Phelps (6-5) went 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

Justin Morneau hit two solo home runs, while Brian Dozier, Joe Mauer and Pedro Florimon each drove in a run for the Twins, who have lost five straight.

Minnesota starter Kyle Gibson (1-1) gave up eight runs on 11 hits in his second career start for Minnesota.
