ANAHEIM, Calif., June 15 (UPI) -- Erick Aybar homered and supplied the go-ahead RBI in the sixth inning Saturday, pacing the Los Angeles Angels' 6-2 win over the New York Yankees.
Aybar's solo shot in the first inning gave the Angels an early 1-0 lead, and his sixth-inning single driving in Mark Trumbo put Los Angeles ahead for good at 3-2.
Howie Kendrick went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Albert Pujols provided a pair of run-scoring singles for Los Angeles, which clinched its three-game series against the slumping Yankees.
Tommy Hanson (4-2) surrendered two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings, striking out eight while issuing just one walk en route to the victory.
New York starter David Phelps (4-4) was reached for four runs on nine hits over six frames.
Brett Gardner and Jayson Nix each drove in a run for the Yankees, who dropped a fifth straight.
