Peng up to 23rd in women's tennis rankings

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., May 27 (UPI) -- Three of the four finalists, including Peng Shuai, from last week's WTA tournaments move into the Top 30 this week heading into the French Open.

Alize Cornet defeated Lucie Hradecka in the title match of the Strasbourg International and Kaia Kanepi topped Peng in the final at the Brussels Open in matches Saturday.

Cornet, who now has three tournament titles, improves from 31st to No. 27 in the rankings while Kanepi's win, which marked her fourth WTA championship, lifts her 14 places in the rankings to 26th.

Hradecka, who is 0-6 in WTA finals, moves from 112th to 87th in the rankings while Peng, still looking for her first WTA title after five tournament finals, is 23rd after starting the week in the 34th spot in the rankings.

With most of the highest ranked players sitting out the week before the French Open, Peng's move to 23rd is the highest change in the rankings.
