MLB: Detroit 9, Houston 0

HOUSTON, May 5 (UPI) -- Justin Verlander pitched seven shutout innings and Prince Fielder drove in four runs Sunday, enabling Detroit to rout Houston 9-0 for four-game sweep.

Verlander (4-2) dominated the Astros, taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning. The Tigers ace ended up allowing just two hits while striking out nine with two walks.

Fielder supplied three hits, including a two-run homer, while Andy Dirks went 4-for-4 with a solo shot and two RBI and three runs scored.

Brayan Pena and Omar Infante also went deep for Detroit, which outscored Houston 38-8 in the series and logged its ninth win in 10 games overall.

Houston's Phil Humber (0-7) lost for the seventh time in seven starts beginning the season, surrendering eight runs on eight hits over four full frames.
