BALTIMORE, March 27 (UPI) -- Linebacker Elvis Dumervile said Tuesday he held no hard feelings toward the Denver Broncos over his unexpected release and was ready for a change of scenery.
Dumervile met the press in Baltimore after signing a five-year contract with the Super Bowl champion Ravens and beginning a new phase in a career that included six stellar seasons in Denver and ended with a missed deadline for filing his restructured contract.
"At the end of the day there was no ill will or hard feelings," Dumervile said. "I just felt it was a time to change scenery."
Dumervile said he hitched his wagon to the Ravens as much for the vibe as the Super Bowl championship they won this winter.
"I wanted to be somewhere where it was a family-type feel," said Dumervile, who added, "I knew the next choice I had to make was a place I felt was stable and a place that was tough and loves football and seems fun."
The Baltimore Sun said pursuing Dumervile was an easy decision for the Ravens. Dumervile, 29, played in three Pro Bowls and had 11 sacks last season as well as six forced fumbles.
"We knew right away that Elvis would be a perfect fit if we could make it happen," said head Coach John Harbaugh.
