GLENDALE, Ariz., March 22 (UPI) -- Jordan Schroeder scored the winning goal midway through the third period Thursday and Cory Schneider made 33 saves in Vancouver's 2-1 win over Phoenix.
The Coyotes lost their fifth in a row and the Canucks moved into a share of the lead with Minnesota in the Northwest Division.
Schroeder snapped a 1-1 tie by putting a wrist shot past replacement goaltender Jason LaBarbera. The goal came with 10:07 to play.
Mike Smith started in goal for Phoenix, but was shaken up late in the second period in a collision with Vancouver's Alexander Edler. Smith made 16 saves and LaBarbera had 14.
The Canucks scored the only goal of the first two periods, getting one from Chris Taney 6:32 into the game.
Antoine Vermette tied it 2:26 into the third on the power play.
