MLS: D.C. United 3, Columbus 2

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Lewis Neal scored the tie-breaking goal in stoppage time Saturday and D.C. United secured a playoff berth with a 3-2 decision over Columbus.

The decisive tally came after Marcelo Saragosa forged a 2-2 deadlock in the 59th minute as United (17-10-6, 57 points) extended their unbeaten streak to six matches and reached the post-season for the first time in five years.

Rookie Nick DeLeon netted his sixth goal of the season in the first half for D.C.

Eddie Gaven and Jairo Arrieta scored for the Crew (14-12-7), who were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
