MLB: Chicago Cubs 4, Pittsburgh 2

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Alfonso Soriano blasted a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning Sunday and the Chicago Cubs went on to complete a sweep of Pittsburgh with a 4-2 win.

Soriano's clout off Jason Grilli (1-6) broke a 2-2 tie and handed the Cubs their third straight victory following a six-game losing streak.

Anthony Recker and Josh Vitters added homers and Joe Mather chipped in with three hits while James Russell (7-1) earned the win after getting the final two outs in the seventh inning.

Carlos Marmol secured the victory with his 18th save of the season.

Pittsburgh fell for the seventh time in nine games despite a solo homer from Andrew McCutchen and three hits from Brock Holt.
