ATLANTA, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Chipper Jones scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch and Paul Janish followed with a two-run single Sunday, sparking Atlanta to a 6-1 win over Houston.
With the score tied 1-1 in the sixth inning, Jones collected a one-out single against Astros starter Bud Norris (5-9) and went to second on Freddie Freeman's hit.
One out later David Ross singled to load the bases and Norris then uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Jones to score the tie-breaking run.
The next batter, Janish, then chased home Freeman and Ross with a blooper to center field, and the National League wild card-leading Braves went on to record a win in the rubber match of a three-game series.
Jonny Venters (4-3) earned the victory, getting the final two outs in the top of the sixth after Cory Gearrin had yielded a game-tying RBI double to Justin Maxwell.
Braves starter Kris Medlin surrendered one run on five hits in a 5 1/3-inning effort.
Norris finished by giving up four runs on seven hits over six full frames.
