STILLWATER, Okla., July 24 (UPI) -- Justin Blackmon, a wide receiver just drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, pleaded guilty to drunken driving Tuesday in Oklahoma, avoiding a possible jail term.

The NewsPress in Stillwater, Okla., reported Blackmon did not attend the hearing in a Payne County courtroom. The player's attorney entered the guilty plea on his behalf.

Judge Michael Stano deferred Blackmon's sentence for a year and fined him $500. Blackmon is to perform 50 hours of community service and an alcohol-lockout device was also ordered for his vehicle.

The 22-year-old former Oklahoma State star was arrested last month after a breath test showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.24, which is three times the legal limit in Oklahoma.

Blackmon was selected by the Jaguars with the fifth overall pick in April's draft.
