MLB: Boston 10, Chicago White Sox 1

BOSTON, July 18 (UPI) -- Cody Ross hit a pair of three-run homers Wednesday to send the Boston Red Sox rolling over the Chicago White Sox 10-1.

With power-hitter David Ortiz having been put on the disabled list earlier in the day and the Red Sox needing someone to pick up the slack, Ross came through in a big way.

He hit his home runs in the third and fourth innings, running his season total to 15 and helping the Red Sox win for the third time in four games.

Adrian Gonzalez added a solo homer for Boston in the fourth and singled in runs in both the first and sixth innings.

Felix Doubront (10-4) went seven innings to get the win, giving up four hits. Doubront won just twice in his first two big league seasons before reaching 10 victories in 18 starts this year.

Starter Pedro Hernandez (0-1) made his major league debut for the White Sox and gave up 12 hits and eight runs in four-plus innings.
