MLB: Detroit 4, Baltimore 0

BALTIMORE, July 15 (UPI) -- Justin Verlander dominated Baltimore over eight shutout innings Sunday and the Detroit Tigers breezed to a 4-0 victory over the Orioles.

Verlander (10-5), the losing American League starter in Tuesday's All-Star Game, rebounded from that poor outing to handle the Orioles on three hits en route to his fifth victory in six regular-season starts.

The right-handed ace yielded a pair of walks and struck out eight while lowering his ERA to 2.43 for the Tigers, who claimed the rubber match of a three-game series at Camden Yards.

Austin Jackson and Miguel Cabrera socked solo homers as Detroit won for the seventh time in eight games overall.

O's starter Miguel Gonzalez (1-1) was touched for three runs on six hits in a 5 2/3-inning effort.
