ROGERS, Ark., June 30 (UPI) -- Rookie Veronica Felibert extended her lead to four strokes Saturday after firing a 5-under 66 in the second round of the NW Arkansas Championship.
Felibert, who led by a single stroke after Friday, set a tournament 36-hole record with her total of 11-under 131, breaking the mark of 132 set by Meena Lee and Eun-Hee Ji in 2008 and equaled by Michelle Wie two years later.
Felibert has appeared in three previous tour events and missed the cut in each one. She was not originally in the field for this tournament and planned to go through the qualifying tournament Monday, before being notified she had earned a spot as the second alternate.
Grabbing a share of second place was Mika Miyazato, who carded a 6-under 65. Her performance knotted her with Inbee Park, who shot 3-under 68.
The biggest move the day was turned in by Brittany Lang, who fired an 8-under 63 to jump into fourth place at 6-under-par 136.
Sharing fourth along with her are Shanshan Feng (70), Katie Futcher (67), Ryann O'Toole (68) and Ai Miyazato (68).
