SAN DIEGO, June 24 (UPI) -- Felix Hernandez struck out 10 Padres and drove in two runs Saturday, helping the Seattle Mariners dispatch San Diego 5-1 in an interleague contest.
Hernandez (5-5) yielded one run on six hits and a walk while raising his strikeout total 101 -- third-best in the American League -- and breaking a personal four-start winless streak.
The American League hurler also took advantage of a rare at-bat in an interleague game to deliver a two-run single, capping a three-run second inning that erased a 1-0 Seattle deficit.
Michael Saunders knocked a solo homer and Ichiro Suzuki added an RBI for the Mariners, who evened their three-game series at Petco Park.
San Diego's Jason Marquis (1-3) was touched for five runs (two earned) on six hits in a seven-inning effort.
