FOXBORO, Mass., May 29 (UPI) -- The New England Patriots Tuesday released oft-injured wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, who was signed in March.

Gonzalez, 27, was signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2007 with the 32nd overall NFL Draft pick that year. He had 37 receptions in 13 games during his rookie season for 576 yards and three touchdowns. He improved with 57 catches for 664 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games in 2008 but has appeared in just 10 games since then.
