MLS: Columbus 2, Seattle 0

SEATTLE, May 24 (UPI) -- Emilio Renteria assisted on one goal and scored another Wednesday, boosting the Columbus Crew to a 2-0 victory over Seattle.

Renteria set up Justin Meram on his goal in the 15th minute and then scored on a spectacular volley in the 76th minute to wrap up the victory. Columbus (4-4-3) won for the second time in three games after having had just two wins in its first eight.

Renteria's goal came when he launched a volley from outside the box that goalkeeper Bryan Meredith misplayed. The ball sailed over Meredith's outstretched right arm and into the net.

Seattle (7-3-2) won seven of its first nine games this year, but has not had a victory in any of its last three contests.
