MLB: Boston 6, Seattle 1

BOSTON, May 14 (UPI) -- Jon Lester allowed one run in a complete-game performance Monday, staking the Boston Red Sox to a 6-1 victory over Seattle.

Lester (2-3) gave up eight hits but didn't walk a batter in tossing his eighth career complete game, breaking a personal two-game winless streak in the process.

The left-hander fanned six while tossing 73 of his 119 pitches for strikes as the Red Sox took the opener of a two-game set against the Mariners and logged their fourth straight win overall.

Daniel Nava socked a two-run homer and Kelly Shoppach went 2-for-4 with a solo shot in the victory.

M's starter Jason Vargas (4-3) yielded five runs on seven hits in a six-inning effort.

Kyle Seager drove in a run for Seattle, which suffered its fourth loss in six games.
